2.2 Can someone else apply for a visa on my behalf?

Personal appearance is mandatory for all visa applicants unless you are exempted from biometric data capturing.

  • Children under 12 years of age. Finger scans are not required.
  • Applicant with previous Schengen visa delivered within 59 months and either bearing the mention ‘VIS’ or issued post October 2015.

If you hold a biometric Schengen visa issued within 59 months, either bearing the mention ‘VIS’ or issued post October 2016, you can :

  1. appear personally (without new biometric data collection)
  2. be represented by a third party who will need to provide on top of your completed application :
    • his/her personal ID (original and photocopy)
    • an authorisation letter from applicant (please click here to download)

If you don’t hold a Schengen visa delivered within 59 months and either bearing the mention ‘VIS’ or issued post October 2016, you can:

  1. appear personally to have your biometric data collected
  2. be represented by an accredited agency, to register and check your application. You will then need to appear personally at TLScontact center to proceed. An appointment will be communicated to you via the agency.
